Bathroom Storage: Big Plans for a Tiny Room

Ever walk into someone else’s bathroom and feel immense envy because the space feels huge? Maybe it was well organized, but the place ran like a well operated machine, and you just thought that you could never do that? Well, you can. It’s not all that hard to have a well-organized bathroom and it will feel so huge by the time you’re done with it. Here are just a few tips that you can use to help make the one room you absolutely must use in your house a little more pleasant to be in.

Functional Fixedness is the Enemy

Spice rack

What I mean when I say this is that just because a thing is labeled to be one thing does not mean that it should be just that thing. Take spice racks as a great example, mount a couple on the wall by your sink and you can take advantage of the new compact storage space. Utilize it to store your toothbrush, toothpaste, extra soaps, really anything that would fit on a spice rack. Items are small, but don’t let that limit your options.

Second Shower Rod

Why have a second shower curtain rod you might ask? To hang things from, duh. Get a second shower curtain rod, hang it close to the wall, and a couple of S-rings, hang loofas and shower caddies out of the way so they aren’t always falling mid-shower. They always seem to fall right as the sick shower-song solo is about to start anyway.

Under Sink Lazy Susan

Want easy access to everything under your sink? The best solution that I have found is a good old fashioned Lazy Susan. Need something from the back of the sink? Spin the Susan around, and suddenly it’s at the front. Sure, it doesn’t create more storage, but it lets you better utilize the storage space that you already have. That’s what this whole thing is all about.

Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe

What I’m saying here is build a hide-away mirror, like the medicine cabinets that are always in the movies, but bigger. Now you can check out your outfit before leaving for the day, and use the same space to hide toiletries, hair straighteners, some miscellaneous cleaning products. The possibilities are limitless. Rather, they are limited by your ability to construct the hide-away storage device.

Hanging Baskets

First off, hanging baskets are a classy look. They will instantly make your bathroom seem well organized and well put together. As a bonus, it lets you keep things that would otherwise be unsightly nearby, masking them with class. Thinking about the extra toilet paper that you bought in the too big of a package because that’s the size it comes in. This little trick will make yours into the bathroom to use in your social circle. That might not really be what you want, but you don’t want the bathroom not to use. No real winning here.

There are, of course, a million other possible solutions to make your bathroom feel bigger and well-organized. This is just the tip of the iceberg, but remember. Take advantage of the space that you have before lamenting the space that you never had.

If after all of this you need a little help with your storage solution, or you find that you just need a couple of supplies, check out a Storage Solutions location near you.
